For a minute, he thought she was going to scream and the expression on her face said that she certainly hadn’t been expecting him. Actually, he hadn’t been expecting her either. His plan had been to come in for a tuxedo fitting – something he was seriously jumping the gun for Eva’s wedding – and figured it would be a legit excuse to see Penny. He’d casually stop in at the bridal shop and say hello and then…

“Spencer? What are you doing here?”

He gave her a lopsided grin. “Doing a test run on tuxedoes to help Eva and Brett out.”

At first he didn’t think she believed him, but then she visibly relaxed. “Oh. Okay.”

“So what are you doing in the tuxedo shop? I didn’t think you worked in here too.”

She quickly explained about the owner needing to get home to a sick child – again – and then she stepped away and began to explain to him about the tuxedo options that had been pulled for him.

If he didn’t know any better, he’d swear she was nervous and that pleased him a little. If she was nervous around him, that meant that she wasn’t unaffected by him – or by their kiss.

Good to know.

Because kissing Penny had been all he could think about all week. He should be back in Atlanta right now.

But he wasn’t.

He should be working on reports for the building he was designing.

But he wasn’t.

What he was doing was trying on tuxedoes when he didn’t need to just on the off-chance he could see her again. How twisted was that?

By now Penny was standing next to a dressing room and holding a tuxedo hanger in her hand. “Martin already placed a shirt and shoes in the fitting room for you,” she said, “and this is the first tux he pulled for you to consider based on your measurements.”

“I never gave him my measurements,” Spencer said.

He nodded. “All I did was call and ask if I could come in and try some on,” he explained. “No one asked for any sizes or measurements. I guess I can try this on and we can go from there, right?”

Then he watched as her shoulders sagged and she sighed. But she immediately went back into sales mode and gave him a nice but professional smile. “Okay, we’ll need to get your measurements first. No need for you to try to fit into a suit that isn’t your size. That’s just crazy.” She stepped away and hung up the suit she had in her hands. “Why don’t you step up on the platform over there by the mirror and I’ll go get the measuring tape.”

Wait…measuring tape? Couldn’t he just tell her what size he normally wore? That would certainly make things easier – especially since Brett hadn’t made any decisions on tuxedos and he wasn’t planning on ordering anything tonight. Then again, if he did happen to go in that direction, there’d be no need for him to stand up on the platform for measurements. And that would mean…

“Just step up on there and face the mirror,” she said. “I’ll need to make a note of your shirt and sleeve size, waist, outseam…”

Then he felt bad for giving her extra work. “Wouldn’t it be easier to give you at least some of my sizes so you don’t have to go through all of this?” he asked and hated that he was quite possibly depriving himself of some extra time with her.

“Under normal circumstances, yes,” she explained. “But for this sort of thing, we require specific measurements. Every designer is cut just a litter differently so it makes everyone’s job easier to just go by what the measuring tape says.”

“Ah…gotcha.” Doing his best to hide a grin, he simply stood and did as he was told as Penny’s hands roamed all over him – in a completely professional way – as she took the needed measurements.

Best. Friday. Night. Ever.

At first, he felt all kinds of wrong that even though there was nothing sexy about what she was doing, it was still mildly arousing – her hand skimming down his leg…her arms wrapped around him to get his waist measurements…

He cursed the fact that they were in the middle of a tuxedo shop and that he had on so many damn clothes!

Once she was done, she moved around the shop and pulled tuxes in his size and then sent him back to the dressing room to start trying them on.

They didn’t talk about much – she kept all of the conversation focused on Eva and Brett and their wedding and tuxedo style questions. Not that he cared. Basically, this was all going to be Brett’s decision and right now, Brett had no idea that Spencer was even looking at tuxes.

No one did.

If his sister caught wind of what he was doing, he knew he’d get her approval and possibly her help. And as much as he knew he was going to need some of that where Penny was concerned, he wanted to do it in his own time and in his own way.

He just never thought trying on tuxedos was a length he’d ever have to go through in order to spend time with a woman.

“Let me know how that first one fits,” Penny called out to him.

And as he closed the dressing room door, he figured he had at least an hour to try to break down some of her defenses and convince her to go out with him again.

Author Interview:
1.  What does your writing process look like? Do you know the whole story when you start?  Or do you just start writing and go with it (seat of the pants writing)?  If you plan it out, how do you do that?  Outline, notecards, post-it-notes, etc.?

We usually spend a decent amount of time texting bits of ideas for characters, plots and broader themes. Once we land on something we love, we start a shared Google Doc and write down everything we can think of - still texting, but whenever an idea pops up we will throw it onto that general document. Then it’s a lot of brainstorming sessions using Facetime to create a vague outline. Kelly would happily jump into the draft at that point, but Tarun won’t start drafting until he has a pretty solid, well-filled outline with an idea of what each chapter will be. Then we each draft the chapters we want to do and edit the other’s chapters in between!

2.  How do you come up with your ideas for your stories?

We often get ideas from reading and watching movies–whether it’s something we loved that sparked a new idea or thinking about a totally different direction a story could have gone in.

3.  What kind of research do you do for the history of the time periods where your stories are set?

Libraries, libraries, libraries. We would be nothing without the e-library programs. We try to read a decent amount of non-fic and fic set or written in the time period and then if we need a specific topic we’ll dig further into that with primary sources. One of our favorite things to research, though, is words and phrases. We love looking at Google Books or the Oxford English Dictionary, then selecting pre-1900 to see if something was used. It’s surprising how old some words are!

4.  What tips do you have for aspiring writers?

Read constantly within the genre you’re writing. Know it intimately. Then go read plenty of things outside your genre. Finish things, even when it feels like crap. You can make it less-crap in the next draft. Discuss books and movies with others, especially writers– it might often help you figure out what works or doesn’t work in your own writing.

5.  What are your favorite:

Kelly: Too hard! Recent YA favs are: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo, Allegedly by Tiffany Jackson
Tarun: Too hard indeed. I’ll say Oscar Wilde and leave it at that.

Movies/TV Shows
Kelly: Buffy, The Good Place, Crazy-Ex Girlfriend
Tarun: In the Mood for Love has been my favorite movie forever. Happy Endings for TV show. I still miss it.

Kelly: If it has lyrics that are incredibly sad OR a female vocalist is very angry at an ex … I probably love it.
Tarun: David Bowie, Soul and R&B, (classics like Ray Charles and Earth Wind and Fire to current stuff like Frank Ocean and Ella Mai)

Food/Writing snack
Kelly: Popcorn, chocolate chips and anything left over in the cabinet, really.
Tarun: Cake, cake, and when I’m in the mood for a change, cupcakes.

Author Bio:
Tarun and Kelly met in a freshman year writing class at NYU and started writing These Vicious Masks a few years later.
Tarun is a writer living in Los Angeles whose idea of paradise consists of kung-fu movies, David Bowie and chai tea. Since completing his first horrible screenplay in high school, he’s written everything from one-act plays and film criticism to humor pieces and strongly-worded emails. He’s also magnetized, crushed and burned the hard drive where that first screenplay can be found.
Kelly is a writer and actor living in NYC. YA is her absolute favorite thing on earth other than cupcakes and she has spent many hours crying over fictional deaths. She also started reading Harlequin romances at a possibly too early age (12?), and still loves a good paperback romance.

Promo Post with Excerpt: The Hook-Up Experiment by Emma Hart

    Book info:
TitleThe Hook-Up Experiment
Author:  Emma Hart
Genre:  Adult contemporary romance
Release Date:  March 13th, 2018

1.Hate-screw my high school nemesis.
2.Remember to hate him.
3.Prove my brother wrong.
It should be easy.
It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics—except this time, they're required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department...

Three hook-ups.
One outcome.

“Is she okay with that juice?” Peyton watched her go.

I selected the Blu-ray from the cupboard and shot a smirk her way. “Sorry to break it to you, but you’re getting a juice box.”

“I can live with that.”

I turned away and hit the eject button on the player. “You didn’t have to say yes to her, you know.”

“Of course, I had to. Have you seen those eyes? How do you say no to her, ever?”

“I think of all the times she screams and swings her arms like a tiny terrorist, and it’s pretty easy.” I put the disk in and turned around.

Peyton had one eyebrow raised. “See, now, I’d think that’s reason to say no.”

“It depends on the day. Sometimes it results in her being put to bed to calm down, which means she ends up taking a rare afternoon nap, and I get some peace and quiet.”

“That’s a thing around her? She was talking to me for thirty minutes flat about what I did and didn’t like.”

“Only thirty minutes? Lucky you. She has about three hours of material of that.” I took a seat on the sofa, making sure to leave space between us for Bri. “Did she get started on hedgehogs yet?”

Peyton looked a little confused. “Hedgehogs?”

“YouTube is the devil.”

“That…was quite the jump in subject.”

I laughed as the main menu music hit on the TV. “I’m going to preface this by saying kids are weird.”

“Some get that from their parents.”

I blinked at her for a second. She wasn’t wrong if half these people who had a mini-career opening fucking toys on YouTube were parents.

“There are a bunch of stupid videos on YouTube, and apparently, watching people open toys is thrilling.”

Now, she looked really confused.

“And on one of those she watched, the person had a pet hedgehog who wasn’t having the nonsense of her opening a Hatchimal on camera, so it stole the egg.”

She blinked several times in quick succession. “I have no idea what you just said, and if I’m honest… Please don’t explain it.”

I laughed and hit play on the TV.

“Here’s your dooce-box,” Briony said, handing Peyton two. “And das mine. I can’t do the straws.”

“Oh. Right. Okay.” Peyton looked at the two juices that had been thrust at her.

Smiling, I took one from her. I pulled the straw off the back, out of the tiny plastic slip, and poked it through the foiled hole in the top. “There you go,” I said to Briony. “What do you want for dinner?”

She put the straw in her mouth and pursed her lips as she sucked the juice up. Peyton watched her, lips twitching, as she put her straw in place.

“Pizza!” Briony announced.

Oh no. I’d eaten too much pizza lately.

Was there such a thing as too much pizza?

Maybe if the toppings were changed up…

“Peydon, do you want pizza?” Bri asked, leaning right into her.

“I like pizza,” she replied, smiling sweetly down at her. “What’s your favorite?”

“I like spots and cheese.”

I coughed on my water. “Pepperoni,” I explained. “They look like spots on the pizza.”

Peyton’s eyes met mine for a minute. Silent laughter shone back at me. That really was toddler logic at its finest.

“You know,” she said, looking down at Peyton. “Spots are my favorite, too!”

Once again, Briony gasped. “Reawy?”

“Really, really. I love spots.”

Oh, Jesus.

It might have been a mistake introducing these two. Not only was my daughter becoming increasingly obsessed with someone who seemed to be a brunette, adult version of her…

No, that was the problem. Peyton was the brunette, adult version of Briony, attitude and all—and if there was anything my daughter didn’t need, it was someone who could teach her a thing or ten about sarcasm.

“I’ll order pizza,” I said, going to stand.

“Oh, you got it last time. I’ll go call them.” Peyton put her juice on the side table and tried to move, but Briony stopped her.

“No. Mimi told me that only gentlemen buy dinner. Princesses sit and look priddy.”

Peyton looked down at her. “Sit and look pretty? I like to buy my own pizza sometimes, and that’s okay.”

Without missing a beat, Briony said, “Princesses sit and look priddy so the mens buying dinner don’t know dat we can kick dere butts.”

Blog Tour Review: Two Wedding Crashers (Dating by Numbers #2) by Meghan Quinn

Book info:
TitleTwo Wedding Crashers

Genre:  Adult contemporary romance
Release Date:  March 11th, 2018

My rating:  5 stars

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven't felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem--but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That's how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I'm a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I'm doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don't think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Chills scream their way down my arms and legs, my nipples pucker, and just like that, with one word, all humor vanishes from our little conversation and awareness of this all-consuming man wrapped around me hits me hard.

Gathering myself, I say, “Tell me something Chris and Justine know about you.”

“Hmm.” His thumbs hook under the waistband of my shorts, playing with the lower part of my hipbones. His touch spurs on my pelvis, needing to rock, begging for him to go lower. My toes curl in my sandals and my back slightly arches, reaching for more. “Something they know about me.”

His mouth doesn’t stray from its position against my ear, and his hips start to slowly move underneath me, his legs tangling with mine. Involuntarily, one of my hands hooks the back of his neck as I hold on tightly to him, feeling like I need support from the onslaught of sensation I’m feeling.

I hear him say something, but it doesn’t register in my brain, which has turned to mush as his thumbs stray from my hipbones to right above my pubic bone.

There is no denying how turned on I am, how wet I am from his mere touch, how much—despite my reservations—I want this man.

With each stroke, my head turns farther and farther to the side until our noses are touching, Beck’s head bends forward to meet me halfway. My eyes flutter shut for a brief moment before I open them and am captured by those flecks of green and gold.

The air stills around us, our breath mixing, swirling between us, our lips so close.

One swipe of this thumb.

Another one.

I can’t breathe.

I can’t focus.

Another swipe, my head leans even closer, my tongue wetting my lips.

One more swipe . . .

My heart hammers in my chest, my skin prickling with awareness.

Beck brings his mouth even closer, only a whisper away now, and he waits.

Holding still.

His breathing feeling erratic beneath me.

And I’m gone.

I bring my mouth to his, slowly parting my lips ever so slightly, just enough to maneuver my mouth across his.

A low, provocative moan escapes Beck as one of his hands snags the back of my head and holds me in place, almost as if he lets go, I’ll disappear.

Needing more, I shift on his lap so I’m straddling him once again, my hands on his bare chest, feeling the powerful sinew that holds him together.

Our lips press and mold, mingling, taking, begging . . .

Beck’s tongue runs against my bottom lip, eliciting a moan from deep within me, lighting a fire so hot, so wild, my hands start to travel up his neck to his cheeks where I grip him, positioning his head so when I open my mouth, I can expertly dive my tongue onto his.

He groans, his lap shifting against mine now, his hard-on pressing against my wet and throbbing center. I match his rocking, using my position on his lap to take advantage of his length I can feel through his board shorts.

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but God, am I happy it has. Maybe I really should live in the moment, maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity, maybe I should…

My Review:
I loved the first book in this series, Three Blind Dates, and so I jumped when the opportunity to review the second book came along.  Just like the first one, this one was so good!   In fact I liked it even better than the first one!  We got to see our rebel from book one, I guess spoiler alert, that means Beck wasn't the one Noely chose in that first book.  In this book he ends up crashing a wedding with his best friend and his best friend's wife.  He figures he can use the weekend to have fun and find a hook-up with no strings kind of girl.

Rylee is crashing the wedding with her friend who is invited and her friend's husband, along with the third friend who is part of their little writing group.  Rylee is a romance writer who has kind of lost her "mojo"  She can't quite write about romance, she hasn't had any, nor sex, for awhile, and it is totally stifling her creativity.  We hear that she's had a hard year, but it isn't until later in the book, in a very pivotal moment between Rylee and Beck, that we find out why her year has been such a rough one.

Of course as you may guess, Rylee and Beck do have fun, and while both set out to just have fun, Beck begins to think he wants more with her. There is something about Rylee that tells him maybe she is the one. But he has his own past, and his own issues, which we learn about pretty quickly in the story.

So many cute parts of this story.  Go ahead, I dare you not to google baby red pandas when they do in the book.  (Although I still say baby dachshunds are way cuter).  There's a part when Beck is telling Rylee everything he's going to do to her when they get back to the room, and she doesn't hear a word because she's suddenly been struck with inspiration for a new story.  When he realizes she didn't hear anything, he just lets her go on and tells her she'll just be surprised later.    And then there were the tears at the end, when her situation hit really close to home with me and my own situation.

Only one complaint, she mentions her "inner goddess".  No, just no.  Don't go there.  :-)  Anyway, you need to read this series, you don't have to read them in order, although it was nice to know Beck a bit from the first one.  And now I am looking forward to book three and who it will be about.

Author QandA
Scared woman lying in bed and hiding under the sheet

Q: This book says “based on real-life experiences” …what does that mean?
A: Wellllll…let’s put it this way, the dedication to my book says: This book is inspired by real life events. Except for all the hot and romantic parts. My life is not nearly that exciting. So basically, it’s true that I snuck into a tire shop waiting room to write. And I brought countless friends and family cars in to write, just so I had an excuse to come in. But sadly, there was never a hot mechanic that caught my eye and wanted to jump into a friends-with-benefits situation with me. I’m pretty sure my husband would have wanted me to take a hard pass on an offer like that. ;)

Q: What inspired you to turn this experience into a story?
A: Wellllll, my agent initially! I started posting about my Tires Tires Tires excursions on social media and it sort of blew up. Like over 500 reactions to my posts when I was sneaking in…it was crazy. I’d never had so much social media engagement ever! And my agent was like, “Why are you not writing a book about a hot mechanic, Amy!” So, I decided to give it a whirl and let’s just say, the words flowed like that delicious complimentary coffee at TTT.

Q: Why do you think it flowed so effortlessly?
A: Well, I’m American and the majority of my books take place in England so that comes with a lot of challenges to make sure I’m writing true to their dialect. Basing Wait With Me in Colorado and using my own dialect was so fun and refreshing. It’s probably why I wrote it so fast! And I took a lot of the same crazy things that happened to me at Tires Tires Tires and used them in the story, so that gave me a great running start on the story.

Q: Since this book is based on your own experiences, how much is the heroine like yourself?
A: Kate’s voice is a lot like mine. Her humor, her sass. Her reactions. But honestly, that’s where our similarities end. She’s a redhead and she’s from Colorado her family isn’t very supportive of her career. My family is crazy supportive—so her background is truly very different from mine. As the book progressed, she really became her own person. She was super fun though and easy for me to write.

Q: That cover is HOT! Who is the model? Is it a real Tires Tires Tires mechanic?
A: Sadly, no. There’s a bunch of fun guys that work at TTT but I see them more as fun uncles…not sexy mechanics. The model is Austin Loes and he lives nearby, so we got to do the shoot in the TTT garage! It was a blast and he is PERFECT for this cover!!!

Q: Does this book have potential to become a series?
A: It does! There’s a couple of fun secondary characters in this novel that I’d love to tell their stories. And the recurring theme in the series would be that all the “meet cutes” happen in various waiting rooms.

Q: Where can readers catch up on the truth-life Tires Tires Tires full story?
A: I have a fun cliff notes version on my website:

Q: Are you still spending your days writing at Tires Tires Tires?
A: Duh! Complimentary coffee and cookies? I’d be a fool not to! Those guys at TTT have opened their arms to me and I love having a fun and unique writing place to go. It just goes to show that you can find inspiration in the most unlikely places.

About J. Kenner

J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and #1 International bestselling author of over seventy novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.

Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, and paranormal mommy lit.

JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them.” A five time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy). Her Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series (as Julie Kenner) is currently in development with AwesomenessTV/Awestruck.

Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.

In her previous career as an attorney, JK worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced primarily civil, entertainment and First Amendment litigation in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as in Austin, Texas. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.
